6 Types of Stationary Adults Need
The year is 2000. A four-year-old girl with two pigtails and too much attitude walks around her preschool classroom with a clipboard of her classmates' names. Her red corduroy dress bouncing beneath her as she skips around the room adding name after name to the list — and admittedly crossing out names of the more…unsavory characters.
The aforementioned girl is the baby me and the clipboard held the names of the classmates I was allegedly inviting to one of the many parties I was planning in my head. You see, birthdays, family reunions, backyard barbecues, and really any types of gatherings were so exciting to me at that age. I loved the idea of planning a party, sending out invitations to a select number of people, and then getting gifts (oh and the joy of their companionship) in return. However, as I grew older I began to stray away from physical invitations, opting for a text message, email, or graphic I made on Canva as a sufficient invite. While all of those are fine additive elements and reminders, nothing compares to the thoughtfulness, beauty, and simple elegance of physical customizable invitations and stationary.
“Simple elegance is something to strive for.”
~ someone in the 2011 rendition of “Footloose”
Pro Tip: When you send loved ones invitations and greeting cards, they often send back gifts if they can’t make the occasion. This simple token of your thoughtfulness will warm their hearts and then BAM! they’ll warm your pockets wink, wink. See, it really is the thought that counts!
So, now you might be wondering: What are all of the events I need stationary for in my adult life? No worries, you know I love lists!
6. Birthday Parties
You didn’t need me to remind you of this one, party invitations are likely among the most popular types. However, gone are the days of generic invitations bought from your local Hallmark, Walmart, or Walgreens. It’s important that your invitations set the tone for your event. The only way to ensure that happens is to have some agency over the details of your invites or the ability to customize them completely! That’s why I’m obsessed with Basic Invite, they have such elegant designs and you get to personalize each card you choose to suit your event and personality! Bonus, right now they’re offering 15% off with coupon code: 15FF51
Even in these unprecedented and pandemic times, celebrating ourselves and inviting others to do so is crucial. Try inviting your friends to your Zoom Birthday Happy Hour using invites like these 30th birthday party invitations! Not only does this help with my aforementioned pro tip, but it allows us to maintain some semblance of the reality we’re excited to return to.
5. Wedding Events
Coming clean, I watch A LOT of Say Yes to the Dress, you could say I’m one of those hopeless romantics. I’m always interested when they show the other elements of planning a wedding besides buying the dress. There’s the venue, the food, the cake, the wedding party, the decorations, and all of the events leading up to the actual wedding. For these events you’ll need Engagement Party invites, Save the Date stationary, Bachelorette Party invites, stationary for the Rehearsal Dinner, and then finally the actual Wedding invites. Moreover, in these COVID times, you also might need a Change the Date card…. That’s a lot of invitations, but Basic Invite has you covered for every single one! You can customize each event’s stationary, whilst keeping the overall theme consistent.
4. Babies!
Congrats on your little miracle that’s about to enter the world! While they’re still baking, you’ve got much to plan for and your loved ones will want to help. Check out these baby shower invitations, so you can let your family and friends know where you’re registered and when the baby is coming! Once they get here, you’ll want to send out birth announcements, plus their first birthday party and baptism are right around the corner!
3. Holidays
What’s a holiday season without a mantle lined with Christmas cards from your favorite people? Basic Invite makes sending beautiful holiday cards affordable and fun!
2. Graduations & Celebrations
In high school I found out that sending out graduation invitations is the best thing you can do when you’re about to become a college freshman. You see, preparing for college is arduous and expensive, however people are so proud of your accomplishments that they’re happy to help...by sending gifts! All you have to do is let them know that the celebration is happening.
The same situation goes for All Mitzvahs, Sweet Sixteens, and Quinceañeras. Are y’all picking up what I’m putting down here? You need a stationary go-to in your life and since we’re friends I’m going to give you my secret weapon: basicinvite.com.
1. Business
Never underestimate the power of a well-designed business card. In this era of social media, we’re easily connected to millions of people at the click of a button. With all this access, remembering everyone we meet can be taxing and ultimately impossible. However, we’re likely to remember the person that handed us the lovely business card — especially when we’re cleaning out our wallets and find it again! Basic Invite has some of the coolest customizable business cards I’ve seen and I’ll definitely be ordering some of my own. It’s the year of Boss Babes, get on board!
